hello gorgeous

Have you ever got yourself dressed and ready to go out somewhere exciting or somewhere special, looked in the mirror and said out loud “Hello gorgeous!” If not, why not?

Despite the well-known saying “beauty is only skin deep”, beauty is much more than that, its more than your physical appearance.

Your physical appearance is closely tied to your self-esteem and emotional well-being and there is strong evidence to suggest that the higher your level of self-esteem, the more likely you are to treat others with respect, kindness, and generosity.

hello gorgeous

By nature we humans crave social interaction and feeling good about ourselves can affect not only how we see ourselves, but how we present ourselves to the world.

Studies have shown that having a healthy self-esteem, good social skills and solid emotional well-being will lead us all to a happier life.

Back to the old saying “beauty is only skin deep”. Feeling good about yourself requires the internal work and that in turn reflects your external appearance. And you don’t need to take it to the outlandish heights of reality TV “stars” or A list celebrities, just taking a little time to work on YOU every now and again (in whatever way floats your boat) is a good way to increase the neurochemicals of happiness aka…

Dopamine
Oxytocin
Serotonin
Endorphins
The happy chemical quartet !

How can you boost these incredible life enhancing hormones?

Here are a few tips:

Exercise – Exercise boosts serotonin in your brain. The more you exercise the more serotonin you have available in your system.

Hypnotherapy to reboot your system, reframe negative thoughts and break old habits.

Tryptophan – Tryptophan is the precursor to serotonin and the great news is you can get it from your diet. Eggs, cheese, tofu, salmon nuts and seeds and Turkey! Not only low fat and protein rich but you’ve guessed it… packed full of tryptophan!

Tyrosine is the precursor to Dopamine – increasing tyrosine include almonds, avocados, bananas, dairy products, lima beans, pumpkin seeds, and sesame seeds.

Want to boost your oxytocin? Breathe…slowly and deeply, relax, hug someone, show some love, do something nice for someone, read a good book, watch an uplifting movie, meditate, laugh, dance, sing… get the picture?

Endorphins… get ready… Chocolate. Indulge in this delectable treat OCCASIONALLY, because cocoa contains mood-boosting substances like phenethylamine, an organic compound that gives your body an endorphin boost. Endorphins are also released by listening to music, giggling and laughing and sex – so crack out your fave Barry White classic and get on board. What’s not to love about a boost of endorphins?

Next time you look in the mirror, remember to smile and say “Hello GORGEOUS!”
