Clinical Hypnotherapy for Women's Health
Hypnotherapy and guided imagery has been used for hundreds of years to enhance women’s health during all life-stages. There are records of hypnosis going back 2,500 years in ancient China and Egypt and today, thanks to better research methods and technologies, science has brought mind-body medicine and hypnosis more into the public eye. Today with neuro-imaging devices such as functional MRIs and PET scans, we can see inside the brain to view in real time what is happening when someone is experiencing hypnosis. With hypnosis we use the power of our minds to physically influence our brains for healing and enhancement of body, mind, and spirit.
Painful periods (Dysmenorrhea)
For those that experience normal menstrual periods with mild pain, it can be hard to believe how serious painful menstruation can be. Some women experience cramping and pain so severe they are unable to go to work, go to school, or care for their families. Pain can be accompanied by nausea, upset stomach, headaches and all over body aches and pains and can be severe enough to have an effect on overall health and wellbeing. Hypnotherapy can help you learn to control the pain, and resume a normal life at times of the month when the pain seems unbearable.
Fertility
Hypnotherapy can help with fertility issues by reducing stress and helping you to feel calm and relaxed. By restoring your physical, mental and emotional balance and wellbeing hypnotherapy can help restore hormonal balance, regulate the natural balance in the autonomic nervous system, regulate and restore a healthy immune system function. Hypnotherapy can also help you to create mental and emotional balance by decreasing negative self-talk and excessive worry and challenging your limiting beliefs about yourself or about becoming pregnant. Working together we can identify and resolve both conscious and unconscious issues that may be preventing conception.
IVF / In Vitro Fertilisation
If you’re going through IVF, hypnotherapy can help you to achieve a deep level of relaxation that could significantly reduce your stress levels. Hypnosis for IVF and fertility treatment can help you to prepare mentally, physically and emotionally. It can assist you in making lifestyle changes or eliminating any fears you may have. It will also help reduce anxiety about miscarriage, and how to cope better with any unsuccessful outcome. Research has shown that being relaxed during medical procedures can improve success rates. Feeling depressed before IVF has been linked to lower success rates also. Hypnosis can help you feel more positive about the procedure and the outcome.
Hypnobirthing
Hypnobirthing is the term used to describe using hypnosis during childbirth. The ultimate goal of hypnobirthing is to provide you with a better birthing experience. Of course, all births are different and hypnobirthing is no guarantee that everything will run smoothly. Rather, it aims to give you back the control and therefore a better chance of feeling relaxed, calm and happier throughout your delivery. Hypnobirthing is a popular choice for mothers hoping to take a natural approach, avoiding medication and drugs as much as possible or indeed entirely. Hypnotherapy is popular for those who feel anxious about giving birth whether this is your first child, or if you had a stressful past experience during childbirth.
Menopause
Hot flushes, night sweats, weight gain, mood swings, disturbed sleep, loss of confidence, lack of libido, heavy menstrual periods… as frustrating and often debilitating as these symptoms can be, menopause is a natural process and is not an illness. Hypnotherapy can help to reduce the impact of stress of the body and in turn rebalance it. Of course it can’t stop the natural process, but can help smooth out the disruptive effects that can all too often accompany menopause. Clients are asked to keep a symptom record for a week or two before their first session so that we can start to identify patterns and triggers. It may be that some simple changes to diet and lifestyle will have a positive impact on symptoms. A personalised therapy plan will be put together to help alleviate symptoms so that you can start to get on with enjoying your life again.
