online therapy

The internet has opened up new avenues for the treatment of our physical and mental health, during the global pandemic lockdown it was given it a huge boost. It looks as though online therapy is the new normal.

Virtual meetings, therapies and all kinds of classes thrive online today. Joe Wicks gained fame bringing his interactive fitness sessions directly into your home during lockdown. Fitness, weight training, yoga, spin classes and innovations such as Peloton and Zwift, have gained considerable popularity as more people get comfortable with the process and see the results they’re achieving.

Virtual healthcare or telemedicine, the remote service offered by GP’s and other healthcare professionals is used to diagnosis, prescribe and treat patients without the need for a clinic or surgery visit. I personally had an online consultation with an optometrist at Kings College Hospital just last week. I have a friend who lives in a remote part of Australia who has had access to remote medical advice, doctors and physicians for decades (although originally via telephone or CB radio!)

Numerous studies and NHS research has found online counselling and remote therapy to be just as effective as visiting a counsellor or therapist face to face. Some clients even prefer online therapy as they find it gives them more flexibility and comfort.

During the Covid19 pandemic and especially during lockdown, lessons at most schools, colleges and lectures at university have been conducted online. Virtual classes have popped up for everything from health and safety at work, to cookery and language learning. Millions of people have learned to play musical instruments online, added to their professional storehouse of knowledge or have retrained completely.

I have been conducting remote therapy sessions with my clients for many years. Sessions are structured in a very similar way to a traditional consultation and are equally as beneficial, all you need is a good internet connection and somewhere comfortable to relax. Remote sessions are the ideal solution for my international clients, for those frequently away on business, for children and teens at boarding school and university, as well as for clients who are unable to attend clinic in person for one reason or another.

Everything that happens in my therapy room can be replicated over a live video link. This is because hypnotherapy is a process that takes place in your subconscious mind. We process information subconsciously all the time, you’re not consciously reading this sentence, you’re reading it automatically. Your subconscious mind is always on autopilot. Hypnotherapy is an amazing tool for personal growth, a time when you can challenge unhealthy or negative habits and replace them with better ones.
